How do temporary road mats work?

Temporary Road Mats, also known as Construction Road Mats, Off Road Mats, or Temporary Passage Mats, work by quickly creating a temporary road on soft soil, mud, grass, or uneven ground by dispersing loads and providing a continuous, sturdy surface for passage.

Load dispersion

Problem: When heavy vehicles (such as cranes, trucks) or equipment are driving on soft ground, the ground pressure of the wheels or tracks will be concentrated in a small area, which can easily cause the ground to sink, slip, or even trap the vehicle.

Solution: Road pads have a large surface area. When the vehicle travels on it, its weight is dispersed over the entire pad area, significantly reducing the pressure on the ground (unit area pressure), allowing the ground to support the weight that it could not otherwise bear.

Provide a continuous load-bearing surface

Problem: Uneven, grooved, or slippery ground cannot provide a stable and safe driving platform.

Solution: The pads are interconnected to form a flat and continuous road. They transform local and uneven support into a unified and uniform support platform, ensuring the stability and passability of the vehicle.

Protect the lower ground level

The pad becomes a buffer layer and isolation layer between the vehicle and the original ground, preventing damage to ground vegetation and soil structure, as well as preventing the formation of deep ruts and mud. This is particularly important in areas with high environmental requirements, such as parks and wetlands.
